Marketing
[edit]Someone should add a section about how much they've been marketing the CRAP out of this thing this year. I'm seeing Bonnaroo videos mixed into otherwise unrelated Youtube searches, Bonnaroo references inserted into Adult Swim/Cartoon Network bumps, lots of viral stuff. It's kind of annoying. Maybe do some digging, find out who's responsible for the ad campaign, why they're going so overboard with it. 129.7.255.90 (talk) 04:26, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
2011 is being marketed as the 10th anniversary of the festival. In one part of this article, 2001 is given as the first year. In my memory (and in another part of the article), 2002 is given as the first year. The official website lists artist line ups going back to 2002. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.197.68.23 (talk) 21:49, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- The last commenter needs to do his math. 2002 to 2011, inclusive, IS 10 years. So, the claims that it is celebrating its 10th year are correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.110.138.132 (talk) 09:06, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- THIS commenter needs to learn english. "anniversary" is number of years passed...NON-inclusively.
- if first concert was 2002; "10th anniversary" concert is indeed 2012. no one cares that it's the 11th concert. 2601:19C:527F:A680:EDEC:EDBF:BFBE:905C (talk) 14:34, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

Bonnaroo Music Festival → Bonnaroo – "Bonnaroo" is the most commonly used, associated, and referenced name, both by the festival itself and external publications. The current page name does not include "and Arts Festival", so it is otherwise incorrect. The shortened name is appropriate under Wikipedia's naming conventions, does not create disambiguation confusion with other "bonnaroo's" (as none exist), and will appropriately conform to other major American festival pages like Lollapalooza, Coachella, South by Southwest, Burning Man, and Electric Forest (all that only have their festival name without any qualifiers, even though these "shortened" names are not their "official names"). I recognize this would take some work on the admin side to correct double redirects and other links, but believe the name change would be appropriate nonetheless. Shotgunheist 💬 03:47, 5 July 2024 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). Shotgunheist 💬 16:20, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
- Adding that the ngram and trends shows "Bonnaroo" used quite more than the current and official name. Shotgunheist 💬 17:16, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
- Not necessarily uncontroversial, and would likely also involve moving Category:Bonnaroo Music Festival as well as the "by year" articles (2002 Bonnaroo Music Festival et. al.) 162 etc. (talk) 04:48, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
- Adding additional policy cite support for approval: a move would better adhere to WP:CONCISE (as formal name is unneeded to specify event with no disambiguation issues); WP:CONSISTENT (as it will make wikipedia more consistent to match the name of other American music festivals as mentioned); WP:PRECISE (as the current name is WP:OVERPRECISION and otherwise incorrect as it does not include the "arts festival" portion of the "formal" name); and WP:UCRN (as wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's official name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used—which would be "Bonnaroo" here as evidenced by festival online presence, publications, and google statistics).
