Image question

[edit]

In response to your question on the newcomers help page: Without knowing what the image is, and where you downloaded it from, it is not possible to give a definite answer. But this page: Wikipedia:Image use policy, should be of help. If you point us towards the website where you got the image from, we can give a better answer. - Akamad 08:49, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you got the image from the official PNP website (I assume this refers to Image:Portia1.jpg) you might be able to tag it as {{publicity}} which produces:

{{Non-free promotional}} Guettarda 19:41, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that the image also somehow overwrote the image of Portia de Rossi, an australian actress. This has caused a great deal of confusion on both pages. I'm very new to image management, though, so I'm having a hard time fixing the problem. -Kasreyn 06:38, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, there's nothing in the history of that page to suggest that he did. If another image had been uploaded previously it would show up in the File History section of the page. If an image had been deleted, there would be a record on that in the page history. Guettarda 15:58, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm...I see. Portia and Portia1. Now I feel dumb. Guettarda 21:14, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Guettarda, Kasreyn..i want to applologize 2 u .. coz last time i do some editing about portia...the prime minister of jamaica..i didn't realize that i put away your portia.. actually could u change the portia to your last 'portia'...is there anything that we can settle this..? che 09:32, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reminding me about it Che, I've just updated it! :P --Andylkl [ talk! | c ] 12:58, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Foreign language articles

[edit]

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do with Portal:Sains/Artikel Pilihan but it looks like you're trying to create a foreign language version of the science featured article. Are you aware that there are Wikipedias in many different languages? This is the English Wikipedia where we only want articles in English. It is a very worthwhile thing to do to take articles from one Wikipedia and translate them for adding to another language's Wikipedia. For example the article could be on the English one but not yet on the German one, the page is translated and created as a new article in the German Wikipedia. Then a tag is added to each article pointing to the other language versions available. See InterWiki for more information on how to use the tags. --Spondoolicks 21:09, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see you are aware of all that anyway as you've been adding ms: tags to articles. I guess you forgot which Wikipedia you were in. I did the same a few months back and started writing an article in English in (I think) the Russian Wikipedia. Spondoolicks 21:15, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I just found this page you created and I personally can't help but think that maybe it's renamed. It certainly doesn't seem to be a portal. Please contact me so we can work out exactly where it should be placed. Thanks. Badbilltucker 23:10, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Portia1.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Portia1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:50, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Klse.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Klse.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:00, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Bnmlogo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Bnmlogo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Kelly hi! 06:00, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Che090572! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 5 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
