Happy Holidays

[edit]
Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, people's rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension. Happy Holidays to you and yours. So very glad to see you are still active. ―Buster7

Sources

[edit]

Quite some time ago, you added some information to the article on Hartley Burr Alexander, citing an 'unpublished manuscript'. It would be helpful if this manuscript were available somewhere other people could access it. DS (talk) 14:15, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@DragonflySixtyseven: That is a complicated question, or rather requires a complicated answer, and I can't log into wikipedia for some reason. But let's try this anyway. In the mid 1980s I started researching architectural sculpture in America. That led me to Hartley Burr Alexander. Many years ago - I see my edit that was from 2006 or so - I met another like minded wikipedian and we started a clone (or whatever) wikipedia website, The Field Guide to Architectural Sculpture in the United States. Back in those early years doing citations was not (at least to me) as important as getting the good info onto wikipedia, so I was sourcing our work. If you feel that this is totally inappropriate then feel free to remove all my edits from the article. I no longer have the gumption to go back and figure out where each bit of info came from, partly due to me reaction to chemo. So do what you must, or we can chat about it more. carptrash aka 2600:8800:590F:8600:E1BB:668E:87C7:4755 (talk) 16:28, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is the site online? If not, is it available via archive.org?
(And I'm sorry to learn about the chemo, but at least you're still here.) DS (talk) 01:16, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, @DragonflySixtyseven:, good news and bad news. The site is on line but only the two of us editors can access it. because it is a wikiclone site anyone who gets there can edit it, so no, you can't really check it. However I can copy any article we have and show it to you. I suspect that the Hartley Burr Alexander article is pretty much the same as the wikipedia one since I wrote both of them more or less at the same time. Of course other editors added to it, but I doubt that they added a lot of content. If there is something specific you'd like confirm, or what ever, let me know and I can see what I can do. I am about to start my post-op chemo but I am assuming that they cut all the bad stuff out of me so I am in the "survivor" class rather than . . . . ....... somewhere else. 2600:8800:590F:8600:E1BB:668E:87C7:4755 (talk) 05:25, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Anarchism checking in

[edit]

Hey there! I noticed you're on the WikiProject Anarchism members list, but you don't appear to have edited in this subject area for some time. Just in case you're still interested, here's a little update:

  • In the past couple years, we have brought four articles to Featured status, including the ones on Nestor Makhno, La Salute è in voi, The May Pamphlet and "The Day Before the Revolution". We're likely to get even more to this status in the near future, so stay tuned to the front page for some of our best articles on the platform.
  • A number of our most vital articles have been reviewed and achieved Good Article status, including ones on Gaetano Bresci, Camilo Cienfuegos, Joseph Déjacque, Luigi Galleani, Paul Goodman, and the Kronstadt rebellion. As these "vital articles" are generally considered among the most important on the platform, we aim to get as many as possible to GA and FA status over the coming years.
  • We recently hit the first milestone for our stub-expansion project, getting the number of stubs down to under 1/5th of our total articles. This means that the vast majority of our articles are now relatively substantial, as we expand and add greater detail to the articles that lack sufficient information. We hope to narrow this number down even further, so more articles have the information they deserve.
  • We just started a cleanup drive, in which we are aiming to resolve the problematic parts of our articles, from finding citations for unsourced sections to fixing up formatting errors. In doing this, we intend to make sure our articles provide the best possible reading experience, without unsourced claims or ugly tags littering the page.

If you want to get more involved in the project, please feel free! We always need an extra pair of hands to help out with our ever-growing project. If you want to help out with one of the above efforts, go right ahead. If you want to keep more up to date with the project's activities, consider adding our noticeboard to your watchlist or adding your name to our mailing list. On the other hand, if you think you're time with the project is over, then consider removing your name from the members list, but we do hope you're still interested in our wee project.

All the best to you, whatever your future plans are. Regards, --Grnrchst (talk) 10:16, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, responding here per the note on my talk page. Thanks for getting in touch, it was good to hear back from you. I'm sorry to hear about your health issues and I hope you feel better soon. Do take care. --Grnrchst (talk) 08:09, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you're a member of WP:Anthropology, would you be interested in joining a sub project on oral tradition? Kowal2701 (talk) 13:52, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kowal2701 This sounds interesting but unfortunately because of some computer issue I can't edit from my home, which is where I'd do stuff like this. I'm at a friends place now, okay for this sort of thing but not really works for editing content.PS, this is not a block, but something amiss in my very old computer. Carptrash (talk) 18:44, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That’s okay, hopefully it’s going to be a sustainable project so it’ll still be going when you get stuff sorted out. I’ll ping everyone soon so we can start discussing ideas Kowal2701 (talk) 19:26, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Carp. Just thought I would tag along on this thread and wish you well. I will always remember our Mural project as one of the high points of my WP career.Best to you and yours, Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 02:44, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Buster, yes I remember the mural project well. It was a high water mark for me too. I'm now at a friend's place, where I can post here and wait for a call from my car mechanic saying they are through with my wheels. Life, what a place to live in. Carptrash (talk) 21:38, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Life is good. As I creep toward my 80th birthday, I keep busy with the Editor of the Week and stay lightly involved on various Trump talk pages just to keep my whistle wet. I would love another Mural article-like project to keep me out of trouble as I wander around looking for a park bench to rest on. Good luck with your connection. I can't imagine a day without editing WikiPedia. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 13:23, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) What is/was the mural project? I'd like to take a look :)   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  13:36, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tom.Reding, the mural project in here. List of United States post office murals

If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:40, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
