Controversies
[edit]Could a "Controversies" or "Controversial Episodes" section be created, like for example:-
- The episode were the Reverend Jesse Jackson made an appearance, or
- Episode No. 847 broadcast on the 10th February 1976 which showed the actress Margaret Hamilton reprising her role of The Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. This particular episode drew severe criticism because of the inclusion of witchcraft and the occult into the show."195.244.197.30 (talk) 07:33, 15 November 2024 (UTC)"

The series finale of Sesame Street is July 4, 2024. There was no official announcement on the premiere of Season 55. Can you add "July 4, 2024" to the table at the top of the page? The show is cancelled. 2601:40A:8400:1820:710B:C41A:4243:E546 (talk) 13:40, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
Not done No announcement. In fact, the opposite is true, as a new format has already been announced for season 56. oknazevad (talk) 14:57, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- But first we have Season 55. So is Season 55 cancelled? 2601:40A:8400:1820:710B:C41A:4243:E546 (talk) 16:09, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- No, because season 55 comes before 56. oknazevad (talk) 20:48, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- There will be NO Season 55 since it was supposed to start on November 21, but it did not air. Can you email Sesame Workshop to figure out if the season will be skipped, or the show is cancelled entirely? 2601:40A:8400:1820:142F:D7C2:CE8A:4A28 (talk) 01:51, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- There was never an announcement that the season was supposed to start that day. That was a fan assumption that was just plain wrong. That date coming and going means nothing. Do you get that? The season 55 premier date hasn't been announced, but that doesn't mean the end of the series. That's silly.
- If Sesame Street, a 55 year old institution, were cancelled, it would be massive news, with coverage everywhere. There has been no such news. You're just jumping to nonsense conclusions. Calm down. oknazevad (talk) 02:00, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes. Please. A cursory look at Muppet Wiki may help. The show's seasons haven't always started in early November. For example, Season 7 started on Dec. 1, 1979. During the rest of the 70s and for most of the 80s, they began in mid-to-late November. Season 44 premiered on September 16, 2013. I'm not going to go through every season, but you get my point, hopefully. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 02:40, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

NET vs. PBS
[edit]The lead currently says, "It has aired on the United States national public television provider PBS since its debut ...." "Its" is ambiguous in that sentence. "Sesame Street" has aired on PBS since the debut of PBS, but for a year before that, the show aired on National Educational Television (NET). The sentence as currently written could imply that "Sesame Street" started on PBS instead of on NET. I'm not sure how to rephrase the sentence without being overly pedantic, though. -- Metropolitan90 (talk) 05:33, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Metropolitan90, technically NET was the precursor to PBS and is a name change, that's all. It's worded that way to avoid confusion. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:09, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
Episode list
[edit]I am creating a unique episode list for the Japanese article, but isn't an English version also necessary? Nikajp (talk) 13:26, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Nikajp, how cool is you creating a Japanese version! Your question comes up often here; most recently, earlier this year. See here Talk:Sesame Street/Archive 4#List of episodes. The consensus thus far is to not have a list here, since it'd make an already-long article longer and more unwieldly. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:16, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
