Blizzard

[edit]

How is this "*1977 - The first day of the Great Lakes Blizzard of 1977, which severely affected and crippled much of Upstate New York, but Buffalo, NY, Syracuse, NY, Watertown, NY, and surrounding areas were most affected, each area accumulating close to 10 feet of snow on this one day. " considered vandalism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.59.147.224 (talk) 21:04, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not vandalism, but it shouldn't be included on a Day article, as it is only notable in the US. Day articles are only for internationally notable events. Jim Michael (talk) 08:58, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rwanda

[edit]

What is meant by "Republic of Rwanda established"? declared? independence from Belgium? I did not find any reference to this date in the article History of Rwanda. --zeno 10:01 Jan 27, 2003 (UTC)

I think we should add this one to the Main Page exhibit, to put in a more recent event. ----Kitch (Talk : Contrib) 13:33, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Super Bowl results

[edit]

I don't see how these are notable. Any thoughts? -- Borameer 14:09, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They are not notable enough for a Day article. Many sports fans wrongly believe that the sport / team / sportsperson they are devoted to is of massive importance. If we let people add scores on here, every page would be crowded with hundreds of results from various sporting events. Jim Michael (talk) 08:58, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gandhi's assassination?

[edit]

I think Gandhi's assassination would be important enough to place here, correct? 99.252.59.196 (talk) 19:22, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly would be important enough, if it actually happened on this date. It happened on January 30. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:32, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Goons.

[edit]

According to this, the last Goon Show was broadcast on 28th January, 1958.

However, the Wikipedia’s on list of Goon show episodes says otherwise[1].

Is it possible to get some form of clarification on this, please? Cuddy2977 (talk) 12:03, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed entries for a number of people who have few or no articles in other language wikipedias and thus not internationally well known. This makes the section more manageable. See Days of Year Project talk pages. Deb (talk) 13:03, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, those that have been removed have been transferred to the relevant Year in Topic articles, where possible. Deb (talk) 16:21, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article was redirected so I removed it. Sikonmina (talk) 03:30, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, but next time please add an appropriate edit summary. See WP:ES. Kiwipete (talk) 18:04, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
