Place of interest/tourist attractions
[edit]This section has several lists of tourist attractions. Inclusion criteria would seem to be that the item is a tourist attraction and it is located in or very near Osaka. Recently Tobita was removed by an editor who was offended that a red-light district was listed in the entertainment category and felt that it shouldn't be listed as a tourist attraction at all. So it was removed entirely rather than adjusting the sub-category it was listed in.
Wikipedia is not censored. We don't white-wash articles to avoid the mention of things that might offend people or reflect poorly on the reputation of a subject. It is fairly easy to find sources that confirm that Tobita is a tourist attraction. While prostitution is prohibited (as a legal matter, perhaps not in practice) it appears that additional forms of entertainment are provided in Tobita. Many of the entries in the entertainment sub list are areas of restaurants, bars and clubs offering nightlife options. It seems a good fit for Tobita. However, after looking at List of tourist attractions in Amsterdam I'm inclined to put Tobita back in a separate sub-list: 'Red-light districts'.

- I agree with this. It should be a separate category and not just lumped in with entertainment in general. Signed, John Gillnitz 2.0 — Preceding unsigned comment added by John Gillnitz2.0 (talk • contribs) 23:22, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
“the three major cities of Japan (Tokyo-Osaka-Nagoya)”
[edit]The comment “[…], and one of the three major cities of Japan (Tokyo-Osaka-Nagoya)” was added to the first sentence in this revision by @JthomasP, without further comment or elaboration, and without citing any sources. It’s unclear what supposedly makes these the three major Japanese cities: by population, the three largest Japanese cities are Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka. It would be great if @JthomasP could explain – otherwise, I think this comment should be removed (especially since it’s so prominent in the first sentence). Socob (talk) 21:35, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think what JthomasP is getting at is that Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya are the largest cities in each of the largest metro areas in Japan – see List of metropolitan areas in Japan. However, I think it's redundant to the rest of the first paragraph, which also mentions Osaka as being the largest component of the second-largest metropolitan area in Japan. I also think cutting off "major cities" at three is rather arbitrary: Greater Tokyo is roughly twice the population of Keihanshin, which is roughly twice the population of Chūkyō, which is slightly less than twice the population of northern Kyushu, which is roughly twice the population of greater Shizuoka ... you get the idea. So I removed it. feminist🩸 (talk) 15:20, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
