Echoism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Echoism may refer to:

  • The formation of words by imitating sounds, a form of onomatopoeia
  • Echoism (facial symmetry), a theorised aspect of facial symmetry
  • Echoism (psychology), the opposite of narcissism
  • Echoism (Feeling), A profound, intangible connection with the life or memory of another person, whether alive or deceased. It is the sensation of feeling their existence resonate within your own, as if their figure, their essence, echoes through time and space, touching your soul. This connection stirs a deep, strange empathy — almost as if you can sense their emotions, their thoughts, or even moments of their life. It’s as though you’ve caught a fleeting glimpse of their experiences, feeling nostalgia for moments you never lived, yet somehow intimately familiar. In some way, it feels like they’re trying to reach out, to make contact, even from the past or from places forgotten, leaving you with an unsettling sense of shared existence, however distant.
